Mary Bernice “Bunny” (Myron) Devine, of Dedham, formerly of Mattapan and South Boston, died at Newbridge on the Charles, January 1, 2023, at 88 years young.

Born July 26, 1934, and raised in South Boston, she grew up in Old Harbor Village and graduated from St. Augustine’s School. She worked at Carney Hospital for over 30 years as a secretary in the Respiratory Therapy Dept. where she loved her job and her many friends and coworkers. Mary was an eucharistic minister and dedicated parishioner at Saint Gregory Church.

Beloved daughter of Thomas and Rose Myron and wife of the late Albert Devine, whom she met at a bus stop in Mattapan. Loving mother of Rosemary Leone and her husband Cataldo and the late John Whalen and Stephen Whalen. Mary is survived by eight grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, and her siblings Nancy Myron, William Myron, Judy Day, Karen Myron, Marion Myron and her late siblings Thomas Myron, James Myron, Peggy Sanchez, and Noreen Myron.

Mary was known to strike up long conversations with strangers in checkout lines. She loved to shop, get her hair done, and go to high tea at the Ritz Carlton with her grandchildren. Always fashion conscious, she never ventured out in public unless everything matched. Mary also loved to travel, including local trips to both Castle Island and Cape Cod.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, Saturday, January 7, at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. Visitation at Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, Saturday 8:30 – 9:30 am. Interment at Cedar Grove Cemetery.

The family is thankful to the staff of Avita of Needham and Newbridge on the Charles for their excellent care, compassion, and love for Mary during her time there.
