Obituary for Marie J. Rosalva

Marie J. Rosalva of Irvington NJ, and Avon MA, passed away peacefully July 5, 2021, at the age of 83.

Born in Croix-des-Bouquets, Haiti, Marie was the beloved daughter of the late Preface Rosalva and Virginie Renaud. Her family affectionately knew Marie as “Founa” and her closest friends as “Fifine.” She was predeceased by her older siblings, the late Ermithe Petit-Frere, Dieufort Alexandre, Arnold Alexandre, and Mogina Rosalva. She was also predeceased by her first-born son George Jean-Pierre (Daddy), whose loss was particularly heartbreaking to Marie. She is survived by her younger brother Fresnel Rosalva.

Marie was a devoted mother, grandmother, a loving aunt, and a wonderful sister-in-law. She leaves behind her three adult children and in-laws Odlaire Alexandre (Guerda Joseph), Sheila Nazaire Marcellus (Obed Marcellus), and Edwin Nazaire (Iesha Nazaire). She is survived by seven grandsons, Christopher, MC Odlaire, Mark, Ethan, Tyler, Isaiah, and Luke. Marie is also survived by many treasured nieces and nephews and close friends from the Christian Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

Marie (Fifine) was an avid student of the Bible and dedicated her life to helping others come to an accurate knowledge of Jehovah God and his purpose for humankind. Upon learning Bible truths, she dedicated herself to Jehovah and was baptized on July 10, 1982. She there-after embarked on a career as a full-time pioneer on September 1, 1984, helping countless people in her community learn Bible truths through her volunteer work which has helped transform their lives. Although having a strong, no-nonsense demeanor, her infectious personality and sense of humor made her easy to talk to and approachable.

Everyone widely knew her love of flowers throughout the community. At any point throughout the year, you would find all sorts of beautiful colorful flowers growing in her front yard that often-times would be used by her neighbors as a landmark when giving directions. In addition to her love of flowers, she enjoyed entertaining family and friends. She enjoyed hosting gatherings in her home and was always the life of the party. Her legacy is undeniable and will continue to affect the lives of many, especially those close to her. We all look forward to one day being reunited and hearing her sweet laughter once again.

She will be missed by all those who had the pleasure to have known her.

Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 23 from 4-8 PM. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Saturday, July 24 at 10 AM at the Dolan Funeral Home 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery in Jamaica Plain.
