Obituary for Marie Georgina Bellefleur

BELLEFLEUR - Marie Georgina (also known as Marie G. Alcindor), who left us on the evening of Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at the age of 95.

Born on May 2, 1929, in Jeremie, Haiti, she was always a responsible child and her mother's best friend as well as only child. Georgina married young and began the rest of her life with her husband, who would always be her one true love. They relocated to the city to raise their family, and although he passed away very young, her life always revolved around her love for her children.

She was well-known in her neighborhood as Mme Jean, a local entrepreneur who always provided the most valuable services to her clients as a beautician and seamstress. She was recognized for her style and sophisticated appearance. She proudly raised her children Lineda, Anaise, and Micheline, doing her very best to show them fair attention until the very end. Georgina was a prime example to all of her children and grandchildren, setting high standards in demonstrating loyal love.

Our beautiful grandmother and mother was the heart of our family. She raised three generations with unwavering dedication, embodying the essence of selflessness. Her love was a guiding light for all of us, teaching us what it truly means to nurture, protect, and uplift those we hold dear. She showed us that love is an action, not just a word. Whether it was the meals she lovingly prepared, baking special treats, doing our hair, sewing our latest fashion ideas, buying us expensive gifts, spending quality time with us, or giving us firm advice, she always did it all with a beautiful smile and kindness. The quiet strength she exuded, and her presence were constant reminders that we were deeply cared for during both good and difficult times.

Our grandmother had a remarkable way of making everyone feel special. She had a smile that could light up a room and a laugh that could soothe even the heaviest of hearts. Her 95 years on this earth are a testament to a life well-lived, especially as a spiritual driven woman who dedicated her entire life to God on July 17, 1993, when she became a baptized Jehovah's Witness. She touched so many lives with her kindness, her faith, and her unshakable belief in the power of family. She attended all her weekly meetings despite the weather or her health. As she aged, she still attended every meeting via Zoom. She preached the good news because she believed in the new world to come filled with love and no pain, Rev 21:4. She knew the power of prayer. She prayed every morning and every night, sometimes for hours, rocking back and forth on the edge of her bed with her eyes closed and Bible clutched in her hands. She was a dedicated and zealous Jehovah's Witness for 31.5 years. Even when her health declined, she showed us her love every day by always praying for us. While her physical presence is no longer with us, pieces of her live on in each of us who had the privilege of being loved by her in this special way.

Today, we don't say goodbye—we say thank you. Thank you, Grandma/Mother, for the love you poured into us, for the lessons you taught us, and for the foundation you built that will continue to hold us together. We are who we are because of you, and your legacy will live on in every act of kindness, every shared meal, and every moment of joy we experience as a family. Please rest peacefully, our dear Grandma/Mother, knowing that your love will never fade and that you will always be in our hearts. We love you deeply, miss you dearly, and can't wait to see you again in paradise.

Devoted mother of Lineda Aubry, Anaise Alcindor, Micheline Michel, and Janlio Aubry.
