Obituary for Marie B Hyppolite

Bernadette Hyppolite passed away peacefully at her home in Cambridge, Massachusetts, on February 15, 2025, at the age of 90. She was born on December 16, 1934, in Arniquait, Les Cayes, Haiti, and lived a full and vibrant life. She was the beloved daughter of the late Eliazar Hyppolite and Genevieve Pierre-Louis Hyppolite and the sister of the late Joseph Aurel Hyppolite.

In 1987, Bernadette immigrated to the United States, where she worked at Beth Israel Hospital until her retirement. She was known for her elegance, warm personality, and love for people. A true people-person, she had a unique and distinct way of making everyone feel welcome. She loved to entertain, bringing people together in her home, where she always had a delicious meal to share. Cooking for others was her way of showing love, and she found joy in gathering friends and family around her table. She was a caring and selfless person, always going out of her way to make others feel comfortable. Her laugh was contagious, and her presence brought joy to those around her.

Bernadette was a great support system for both family and friends, always offering unwavering encouragement, guidance, and strength. She was generous, courageous, and deeply positive, helping others navigate life’s challenges with grace and wisdom. Her life was a testament to the strength of a woman who faced every moment with resilience and kindness. Those who knew her will remember her as a generous soul who touched countless lives. She is survived by her sister-in-law, numerous nephews and nieces, cherished cousins, devoted godsons and goddaughters, and many dear friends who loved and cared for her. Her legacy of love, generosity, and strength will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Bernadette is survived by her sister-in-law Josette Vielot Hyppolite, nephews and nieces Jean-Vilaire, Ketty, Karine and husband Michel Erick Pradieu, Pascale and husband Frantz Limage, Franck A. and wife Myrna Laine, late Thierry and living wife Christine Cameau, Johanne and husband Jean-Claude Charles and Jeffrey and wife Patricia Clerie. She is survived by great-nieces and nephews: Junior, Genevieve, Nahomie, Eliazar, Sebastien, Mathiew, Valdimir, Stephan, Alain, Christian, Ericka, Richard, Sidney, Sibyl, Aryanna, Philippe Jhiovanny, Jennifer, Jonathan Hyppolite, Lharissa Charles, Chloe, Niya and Gabie.

Bernadette is also survived by countless cherished cousins and a wide circle of friends who became family. She will be remembered by all members of the families Hyppolite, Pierre-Louis, Vielot, Loubeau, Pierre, Aime, Fenelon, Ferjuse, Altema, Doricent, Valentin, Janvier, Lhermite, Beaubien, Danier, Rodriguez, Duplan, Pradieu, Limage, Laine, Cameau, Charles and Clerie.

Bernadette had a special way with everyone, including her devoted caretakers, who knew exactly how to make her comfortable and prepare her meals just the way she liked them. She would not have made it this far without their dedicated care and unwavering support. Bernadette lived a comfortable life, thanks to the love and assistance of her caretaker family. By her side were Rose, Ketsia, Alourdes, Madame François, and Marie-Andrée, among others, who cared for her with kindness and devotion.

She will be deeply missed by all who have the privilege of knowing and loving her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, March 1, 2025, in Our Lady of Perpetual Help, 1545 Tremont Street, Boston, MA at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hour 9-10 am in the church. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, Randolph.
