Maria Augusta Barbosa Fernandes Rodrigues, affectionately known as "Fininha," passed away peacefully at the age of 96 on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, surrounded by her beloved family at her home in Boston, MA

Born on May 5, 1928, in Praia, Cape Verde, Maria was the eldest of nine siblings, seven of whom preceded her in death. She was the cherished daughter of the late Severiano Barbosa Fernandes and Bibiana Correia e Silva.

In 1948, Maria married the late Clarimundo Barbosa Rodrigues, and together they built a beautiful family. She was the proud mother of seven children: Clarimundo Barbosa Rodrigues, Filomena Still, Celina Levy (raised as her daughter), Jorge Manuel Barbosa Rodrigues, José Maria Barbosa, Carlos José Barbosa Rodrigues "Costa," and Fátima Leonor Barbosa Rodrigues Nunes.

Maria was a devoted grandmother to 21 grandchildren: Kevin Still, Ann Isabel Rodrigues, Carlos José Barbosa Rodrigues "Kaka," Mirima Barbosa Rodrigues Fernandes, Gilson Samir Barbosa Rodrigues Nunes, Carla Levy, Stephanie Barbosa Rodrigues, Elio Barbosa Rodrigues Nunes, Ashlyn Barbosa Nunes, Leslie Barbosa Rodrigues Nunes, Mauro Barbosa Rodrigues Nunes, Emerison Barbosa Rodrigues, Larissa Barbosa Rodrigues Silva, Leida Barbosa Rodrigues, Romina Rodrigues, José Jorge Barbosa Rodrigues, Jonathan Barbosa Rodrigues, Erik Barbosa Rodrigues, Joshua Barbosa Rodrigues, and Joseana Levy. She also lovingly leaves behind 25 great-grandchildren, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Maria's life was a testament to love and dedication to family. Her legacy of strength, faith, and warmth will live on through the countless lives she touched.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Patrick Church on Tuesday, December 3rd at 10AM. Visiting hours will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Monday, December 2nd from 5-8PM. Interment at New Calvary Cemetery
