Marie A. Massena, a beloved wife, mother, and confidant to many, passed away peacefully on Sunday, January 14th, 2024 at her home in Dorchester, MA at the age of 88.

Born in Gressier, Haiti, she was the third youngest of four children to Anacilia Abellard and Antenor Massena. Moving to Port-au-Prince, Haiti in her mid-20s, she met Josaphat Myrtil, who would soon become her lifelong companion. Shortly after, God blessed them with four lovely daughters. In pursuit of her life’s passion, she was a well-known seamstress in her community, offering apprenticeships for those who came after her.

In her later years, she migrated into the United States and laid down her roots in Dorchester, MA, for her four children to follow. Retiring at an early age due to a chronic illness, she continued to be a pillar of faith and set an exemplary standard for future generations.

She is survived by her husband, Josaphat Myrtil and her four children Marie Berthy, Myrlene, Marie Antoinette, and Immacula (Sagine) Myrtil. In addition to her children, she is mourned by her grandchildren and extended family.

She was loved and respected by many and will be greatly missed. Her infectious smile and laugh are among the many traits that will always remain in our hearts and minds. The immediate family asks to honor her name with prayer and thoughts.

A Mass of Christian of Burial will be celebrated Friday, January 26, 2024 in Boston Basilica of Our Lady of Perpetual Help, (Mission Church) 1545 Tremont Steet, Roxbury at 10 o'clock. Visiting Hours in the Dolan Funeral Home Thursday, Jaanuary 25, 2024 5-8 pm. Interment Cedar Grove Cemtery, Dorchester.
