Obituary for Marguerite Smith

Marguerite Smith, 68, of Watertown, MA, passed away in her home with her family on Friday, November 19th, 2021 at 3:35 a.m. after a lengthy battle with cancer.

She was born on November 10, 1953 in Beaumont Texas, to Ruby Lee Smith and Earl Smith.

She devoted her life to her two daughters Chanel Tina Smith and Crystal Joy Davis she was a loving grandmother and adored by her nine grandchildren Jasmine Smith, Denzil Smith, Whitney Smith, Emonyi Smith Janessa Smith, John Smith, Eric Davis, Kendrick Davis and Kyla Smith and her four great grandchildren Mario smith Asahd Smith and Denzel Smith, Joshua Smith.She will also be greatly missed by her 7 sisters, 6 brothers, large extended family members and friends.

Marguerite faced many barriers as a single parent to her two daughters. In her fight to continue her education and the motivation to provide her children and grandchildren with a better life; she received a multitude of certifications and received honours from each institution she attended.

After receiving her education she went on to work as an administrator for the department of children and family services. After many years with the Department she went on to work for Veterans Affairs

Where she ultimately resigned from after receiving her cancer diagnosis. Marguerite Smith was a well respected member of her community and she gave back to it in any way she could whether it was by donating funds or support she made the time to give back to the community that gave to her.

Her favorite pastime was taking long day trips with her children and grandchildren Exploring state parks and beaches. She enjoyed nature was also a lover of smooth jazz and various other genres of music. She loved to shop and discover the different kinds of cuisine Massachusetts had to offer.

Marguerite Smith was the epitome of the words strength, love, kindness and wisdom. For everyone that knows her, will all agree that she was a balanced woman, one of strongest and toughest women that we’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Wednesday, November 24th from 10-11 AM. The Funeral Service will begin at 11 AM. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
