Obituary for Margaret “Peggy” Nee
Margaret “Peggy” Nee of Milton, formerly of County Galway, Ireland, passed away September 26, 2022, at age 84.
Daughter of the late Martin and Margaret McDonough of Carraroe. Beloved wife of the late Patrick “Paddy” Nee of 49 years. Loving mother of Patrick and wife Patricia Nee of Hanover, Paul and wife SungHee Nee of Hopkinton, Margaret and husband Michael Pellegri of Milton, Eileen and husband Walter Heller of Milton. She was “Mamo” to grandchildren Micaela, Christina, Alyssa, and Connor Nee of Hanover, Ashley Nee of Hopkinton, Maggie, Madison, and Mason Pellegri of Milton, and Emma and Wallace Heller of Milton. Beloved sister of Barbara Flynn and Sarah McDonough and the late Bridget Thomas and Mary Malloy, and brothers the late Patrick McDonough, Michael McDonough, and Martin McDonough. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and friends.
Born in Carraroe, Ireland, Peggy immigrated to Boston in the 1960s. She campaigned for John Kennedy and was an early supporter of the modern women’s rights movement. She loved to attend the Irish Social Clubs and, while attending a dance with her sisters, met her future husband, and they married in 1964. She moved to Milton in the 1970s, where she raised her growing family and worked with the family real estate business. Peggy was happiest when making her famous pancakes after a sleepover with her grandchildren, baking her Irish soda bread, or preparing a decadent chocolate cake for a family party. Peggy loved traditional Irish folk music, but her true guilty pleasure was watching a Hallmark movie with her Mounds candy and a cup of Barry’s tea. Her greatest joys were attending her grandchildren’s numerous activities and hearing about her families’ new endeavors. She instilled the importance of family and love into her children and will be greatly missed.
