Lessie Moore
On January 16th,2022, our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend of many was called to be home with her Lord and Savior. Lessie M. Moore, also known as Nina (A name given by her granddaughter Tiana) was born and raised in Sumter, SC to Marion and Mary Rose on August 26th, 1952.
Lessie graduated from Sumter High School in South Carolina. Soon after, she decided to take her family to Boston, MA for a better life. There is where she reconnected herself with God and discovered a more profound love for children. Lessie was a long time member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church of Boston, MA and served as the treasurer, leader of the usher board, and youth director. She also received a degree from Quincy College in Early Childhood Education. Lessie had a successful daycare for over 20 years and housed several foster kids throughout the years. She also devoted her time and energy as a caregiver to her friends and family. Her charm and smile enlighten any given moment.
Anyone who knew Lessie, knew that she had love for the game of Bingo and cooking for all occasions and events. Especially fundraisers for her church family and community.
Lessie is survived by seven children. Michael Moore (Maine), Frederick Cummings and Tammy Moore(Virginia), Robert Crawford, Calvin White, Felecia Pizarro, and Shyanne Thistle(Boston). Seven grandchildren that she loved with all her heart. Michael (Quan)Moore, Trevon Moore, Tyrone Moore, Tiana Thompson, Trevon Carrington, Keyshawn Crawford, and Dior Thistle. One great grandson, Tayshawn Moore and three sisters Mary Griffin, Susie Rose, Rebecca Robinson, and two brothers Marion Rose, and Christopher Rose (Deceased), as well as a host of nieces and nephews. Lessie is also survived by her two favorite aunts, Eartha Lee Beckham and Mary Ellen Sanders and one favorite cousins Drayfus Williams, and Pastor Daniel Bennett.
Viewing on Monday January 24, 2022, 10-11 AM in Antioch Missionary Baptist Church, 1082 Blue Hill Avenue, Boston. Funeral Service to Follow at 11 AM. Interment in Oak Lawn Cemetery, Boston.
