Leonard Alonzo Rise, 70, of Lowell passed away on May 30th. He was born on June 25th 1952 to Semmie and Mae Frances Rise. Originally from Tampa, Florida later taking residence in Dorchester Mass. Leonard, known by family members affectionately as Planto, is the 6th of 9 children.
Planto led a remarkable life full of love, laughter, and adventure. After graduating from Boston Trade School in Roxbury he worked as an electrician before courageously enlisting in the United States Army. Throughout his professional journey, he was known for his dedication, hard work, and innovative thinking.
Beyond his professional achievements, Leonard was a loving and devoted family man. He cherished his role as a son, brother, father, grandfather and uncle. He is preceded in death by both parents and siblings Evelyn, Cecil, Rosalyn, Sylvester Jr (Boo), Shirley, Rita (Cookie) and two nephews Levar Rise and Lancelot Reid. He is survived by his sister Mira Rise and brother Irving Felton Rise and Ex-Wife Heidi Williams. 4 nieces, 12 nephews amongst great-nieces and nephews. Two Sons Leonard Hill, Jason Hill-Rise-Wilkins and daughter Channita A Leaston as well as a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was a pillar of strength and support for his family, always providing a listening ear, wise counsel, and unconditional love.
His kind heart and generous spirit were evident in his involvement with various charitable organizations. Leonard dedicated his time and resources to causes close to his heart, making a positive impact on the lives of many.
With quick wit and infectious humor, Lenny had the unique ability to bring joy to any room. His laughter was contagious, and he had a remarkable ability to uplift the spirits of those around him. He will be remembered for his warm smile, his compassionate nature, and his ability to find the silver lining in any situation.
Planto leaves behind a legacy of love, kindness, and resilience. His memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing him.
