Obituary for Laura J. Cahill
Laura Cahill, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and dedicated community member, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2025, at the age of 69 after a battle with early onset Alzheimer’s disease.
Known to many as “The Milton Expert,” she was a top-producing, award-winning real estate agent who made a lasting impact in her field. She often said that she never worked a day in her life, as she truly loved her job and found joy in helping others find their home to plant roots. Her passion for real estate was matched only by her love for connecting with clients and colleagues, many of whom became lifelong friends.
Having grown up in Dorchester and surrounding areas, she and her three brothers William (Bridgie) McNulty, Kevin (Christina) McNulty and Michael McNulty were raised by a single mother, Sara McNulty. Her mother taught her the value of hard work, perseverance and the importance of community. Partly due to moving 18 times during her formative years, she understood the value of helping others find a home and was determined to making that process a positive experience for others.
After meeting the love of her life, John Cahill, the two were married and settled in Milton. Laura quickly immersed herself in the community, giving her time and talents to various boards and committees. Her involvement with the Milton Amateur Garden Club and ¡Celebrate Milton!, among others, reflected her deep commitment to giving back to her community and was a core part of who she was, whether it was helping someone in need, offering encouragement, or simply lending a listening ear.
Her greatest joy, however, came from her family. Laura and John were partners in every sense, and their 47 years of marriage were filled with mutual love, support, and shared memories. Together, they raised three children—Carolyn (Katie) Cahill, Jennifer (James) Walsh, and John (Borislava) Cahill—instilling in them the values of love, integrity, and compassion. Laura’s unwavering support and encouragement helped each of them pursue their individual endeavors. Some of Laura and John’s fondest memories were attending field hockey games at Bentley University where both their daughters played.
When her grandchildren, Elizabeth, Madeline, Bridget, and Alex came into her life, Laura was full of pride and joy. She was a loving grandmother who cherished every moment spent with them, and they brought her immeasurable happiness.
Laura's legacy will live on through her family, her friends, and the countless lives she touched through her work and community involvement. She was a woman of strength, kindness and a quick witted sense of humor, whose spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
In addition to her husband, children, and grandchildren, Laura leaves behind a giant circle of friends, colleagues, and community members who were all fortunate to have known her. She was a remarkable woman who made the world a better place with her warmth, generosity, and love.
