Obituary for Koon-Chow Lee

Koon Chow Lee, a man well loved by many, was called home to be in the loving embrace of the Lord on July 26, 2023, just three weeks after celebrating his 98th birthday.

Koon Chow shared a special bond with his beloved wife, Piah Sim Lee, with whom he celebrated their 71st wedding anniversary on May 17, 2023. Becoming best friends eight years before their marriage, they cherished over 79 years of companionship and devotion to each other.

A truly dedicated father, Koon Chow leaves behind his loving children, Doreen and Stephen, Maureen, and Reynolds and Jenny. He also took joy in being an active part of his grandchildren’s lives – Joel and Wendy, Nathan, Joy and Jonathan, Daniel, Lydia and Chris, and Sam. The recent arrival of his great-granddaughter, Naomi, has brought him immeasurable happiness.

For many years, Koon Chow served as an elder at Singapore Life Church and as one of the founding elders at the Mandarin Congregation of the Orchard Road Presbyterian Church in Singapore. He and his wife became cherished mentors to the young adult fellowship at the Orchard Road Presbyterian Church. He has left an enduring impact on the lives of numerous young people who continue to love and honor them today, even after many of whom have now become grandparents themselves.

An even-keeled, logical, and resourceful man, Koon Chow enjoyed DIY work, as well as the challenge of Chinese chess, becoming a skillful player who left many family members in awe of his strategic prowess.

Koon Chow Lee will be deeply missed but forever remembered by those who know and love him. His legacy of love, devotion, and mentorship will continue to inspire and guide generations to come.

My beloved Tua Teoh It is with great sadness that we are bidding farewell to my uncle I remember my uncle as one who is God fearing , one who loves his wife and children dearly It must not have been easy for him and Tua Ee to send their children abroad to study overseas at a young age It must also not be easy for him to sell everything in Singapore and uproot himself and Tua Ee to settle down in US after retirement Just shows his love for his children and family ! Notwithstanding this, Tua Teoh and Tua Ee continued to brave the long hours of flight to make their yearly pilgrimage to Singapore every year , well into their nineties ! It was then that we had opportunities to celebrate Lunar New Year together with them for a number of years. To my dear cousins and family over the other side of the Pacific, God has blessed Tua Teoh and Tua Ee richly May God comfort Tua Ee and all of you during this period of bereavement fm Pauline and all my siblings in Singapore

Dear Piah Sim Cheh & family, We are saddened to learn of the passing of Koon Chow Hiah. I remember the times when both of you came to Singapore and you never failed to visit my second sister, Siew Kim in Tampines. Koon Chow Hiah was kind, pleasant and soft spoken in all his ways.
