Obituary for Kelvin "Kevin" Little

Kelvin (Kevin) Little, son of Calvin and Jannie Little, was born on February 21, 1965, in Boston, MA and passed away on September 11, 2024.

Kevin attended West Roxbury High School and graduated in 1984. He worked as an operator for The Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) for 23 years, retiring in 2011.

He was the father of three sons โ€“ Kelvin Matthews, Taychon Little, and Devante Santiago who were the joy of his life.

Kevin grew up in a loving household with his parents and siblings where there was a lot of laughter and joking. Family night out usually included a drive-in movie at Neponset in Quincy with Burger King or McDonaldโ€™s take out, and there were often in-house movies with a lot of popcorn.

Kevin loved his sons dearly and cherished the times he spent with them whether it was traveling to Disney, attending a water park, or hanging out at the movies. They were his heart and his lifeโ€™s greatest accomplishments, and that love grew when he was blessed with his beautiful grandchildren.

Kevin enjoyed fun times with his family where Thanksgiving was the family event of the year where his mom, sister, and sister-in-law cooked a huge feast, and the family would gather to eat and joke. You had to have thick skin to attend dinner because Kevin, and the rest of the crew, had jokes, so you needed to โ€œcheck your feelings at the door.โ€ After dinner, the family would proceed to the basement playing music, Kevin tinkering with the keyboard, and the rest of the siblings, nephews, and nieces would dance and act silly.

Kevin had a very close relationship with his siblings which included daily conversations and jokes with his brothers and always the protective figure of his sister.

Kevinโ€™s friends played a special role in his life whereby most bonds began during childhood, growing up in Mattapan riding bikes and playing games. As they moved into adulthood, they connected over the phone, during cookouts and events reminiscing about old times, discussing their children, and life in general.

Kevin had a way of connecting with people. He had a very kind spirit, was a gentleman, and had a way of making everyone feel welcome and comfortable whether it was the person behind the counter at the store, the stranger whose car broke down, or the person filling his tank with heating oil. Kevin enjoyed playing the lottery, often driving up to New Hampshire for a quick pick.

Kevin was very loving and had a special bond with his mother where they were two peas in a pod! Kevin will truly be missed!

Kevin is survived by his children Taychon Little and Devante Santiago, grandchildren Ayva Little, Dionis Santiago, and Quincy Little, parents Calvin and Jannie Little, brothers Herbert Daye Sr., Dwayne Dove, and Albert Little, sister Janice Little, sister-in-law Denise Daye, nephews Derek Trusty Daye, Herbert Daye Jr., Brandon Daye, Mark Hazlewood, Kendell Daye, and niece Yaddisha Little, as well as his close friends Darryl Collins, Mark Register, Emmett Reed, and a host of relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his eldest son, Kelvin Matthews.
