Obituary for Kathleen T. Conroy

Kathleen Theresa (Power) Conroy passed away peacefully surrounded by her husband and children on July 6, 2024 after a nearly 5-year battle with ovarian cancer. Up until the end, Kathy maintained her grace, compassion, wit, humor, love of family and friends and expressed gratitude for her life which was blessed with love, faith, travel and laughter.

Kathy was born on September 16, 1945 in Boston, MA. She grew up in Dorchester and attended St. Gregoryโ€™s School before earning her Undergraduate Degree in Teaching at Emmanuel College. Kathy moved on to earn her Masterโ€™s Degree at Boston College. It was during her tenure at B.C. that Kathy met the love of her life Robert, to whom she married in 1973 at St. Elizabethโ€™s Church, Miltonโ€ฆthe town that Kathy and Bob would soon buy their family home on Artwill Street and start their life together.

Kathy taught primarily special eduation in Randolph Public Schools for over 35 years where she touched the lives of many students, families and fellow staff members. She was very proud of her time spent in Randolph but the accomplishment she was most proud of was her family. Kathy was the devoted mother to Tom Conroy of Milton (wife Kim), Mary Beth Wilder of Hingham (husband Chuck) and Annie Conklin of Canton (husband Jay). Kathy loved her children fiercely but nothing brought her more joy then her role of โ€œNanaโ€ to her โ€œadorable and lovingโ€ grandchildren Charlie (16), Duncan (13), Emme (13), Maeve (11), Corinne (8) and Brendan (7). Regardless of location or weather, Kathy and Bob could be found on any given day cheering on her adoring grandchildren from the stands or sidelines as their biggest fans.

Predeceased by her parentโ€™s Edward and Mary Power, sister Ann-Marie Simon and her husband Dick, and nephew Brian Jennings, Kathy leaves behind siblings Elaine Schneider (husband Bob), Edna Jennings (husband Dick), Steve Power, Marty Power (wife Laurie), and Joe Power (wife Mary), many wonderful nieces and nephews who she loved very much and her adoring husband Bob, who was a loyal companion and her โ€œangelโ€ until the very end.

Kathy always made every person she was with feel like the most special person in the world and forged so many deep friendships throughout her life spanning throughout Massachusetts and Florida. She was deeply thankful for the prayers and support of Father Unni of St. Cecilia Parish, Boston and the โ€œwonderful staff that work on Beth Israel Oncology especially Dr. Shea, Dr. Garrett, Fiona, Kate, Erin and Amandaโ€.

Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 12 at Our Lady of the Visitation Parish - St. Elizabethโ€™s Church, 350 Reedsdale Rd., MILTON at 10:30 am. Interment in Milton Cemetery, MILTON. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend.

I am so sorry to hear of Kathy's passing. Without the unity we had at St. William Church, we never hear about dear friends and family after the fact. Bob , I am so sorry.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Kathy's passing but happy to know her suffering was over and she is beyond the pearly gates. I looked forward to our yearly meetings and hearing about the kids and grand kids and her filling me in on Big East basketball and how my Friars were doing. She hated paying taxes and always pleaded with to find a way for a refund! Kathy I will miss you dearly , please ๐Ÿ™ look out for us in our day to day lives. You did a great job for your family. Keep up the good work.

I was so saddened to hear of Kathy's passing. I can still hear her voice and laughter when we would be playing golf at Red Reef. Kathy was always so sweet and genuinely interested in all our families and just one of the nicest people I ever met. Heaven will be so much better with her in it. May she fly with the angels. She already was an angel on earth. RIP Kathy... I'll never forget you.

To the wonderful Conroy Family: You are in our Hearts and Prayers. Words escape me expressing our Love for Cathy. Everyone loved Cathy...to know her was to Love her. She always took the time to make the person she met feel special. So many fun memories. We would often meet at Natalie's for Happy Hour. One evening I mixed too much alcohol in Cathy's beverage...and she went home sideways. As she walked by our Condo..,I could hear her saying I'll get you McKelvey. She was so much Fun and so Loving. Cathy was a Hero to me. Her example of grace, love, and courage will live on in my Heart. I'm sure you children know that she Loved you above all else. You were the Sunshine in her life. Find comfort in knowing that your mom is with the Lord she Loved. All our Love, George& Sherry McKelvey

I am deeply saddened to hear of Kathy's passing. Yet she would not want me to be sad, because Kathy loved life and sharing a story or a joke throughout her days at the Donovan School in Randolph. My favorite memory with Kathy was how she "reinstated my driver's license". She made an announced to the ladies in the lunchroom and handed me a her version of a driver's certificate. I was genuinely in tears from laughing. Kathy had a wonderful way of making everyone feel at HOME! I will truly miss her, but I can still hear her laughter. Godspeed my friend. May the family find comfort in knowing how much she was loved by many. Kelly Flythe Sands

At one of our functions in the PDW, Kathy and I were helping to set up. We were finished and about to leave the club house when I couldn't find my phone. After looking high and low Kathy said she would call my number and hopefully when it rang I could locate it. Mind you this is after a good fifteen minutes of searching everywhere including the trash. Well Kathy got her purse and pulled out the phone to call my number. Guess what? She had my phone all along. Picked it up thinking it was hers. We had a good laugh, I truly prayed for Kathy's recovery every night but I guess God needed another angel. May she R.I.P. and may her family be consoled knowing she fought a good and brave fight. ๐Ÿ’”
