Obituary for Kathleen Mary Mitchell
Kathleen Mary Mitchell, of Milton, passed away on August 13th, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Dorchester, Massachusetts, Kathy graduated from St. Gregory’s High School before Boston State College. After college, she began a teaching career in the Boston Public Schools.
After earning a Master’s in Education from Stanford University and a CAES from Boston College, Kathy graduated from Suffolk Law School and embarked on a career practicing law.
She enjoyed skiing and gardening and was a member of Ikebana Int’l and Wollaston and Milton Garden clubs. She was a friend to all animals and cared deeply for the shelter cats she adopted. Kathy was devout in her faith and prayer and sought many spiritual pursuits during her life. She was an enthusiastic traveler as well, having visited many countries around the world.
Charity was a life-long passion of Kathy’s, and she supported many humanitarian and animal welfare organizations, both locally and nationally.
Kathy was most devoted to her family, and shared an incomparable bond with her sister, Anne. She was very proud of her nephews, Francis, and Matthew Connolly, as well as her great-nephews, Colin and James Connolly. She was a very special aunt to them all, and her love and teachings will remain with them for a lifetime.
She is survived by her sister, Anne (Mitchell) Connolly, and Anne’s husband Paul, her nephew Francis Connolly, all of Milton, and her nephew Matthew Connolly and his wife Elaine (Sullivan) and their sons Colin and James, of Bridgewater.
She is preceded in death by her parents Francis Joseph and Margaret Claire (Cushing) Mitchell.
In recognition of Kathy’s charitable nature and in lieu of flowers, her family encourages all who wish to make a donation in her name to St. Francis House, Greater Boston Food Bank, or Animal Rescue League of Boston.
