Obituary for Joseph F. Lynch

Joseph F. Lynch of Milton and Marshfield passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Dec. 5 at the age of 98. He was the beloved husband of 73 years to Mary T. (Curtin). Son of the late Joseph and Katherine (Fitzgerald) Lynch, he was predeceased by his sister, Geraldine Shanley and his brother, Robert Lynch both of Marshfield. He is survived by his daughter, Cathleen (Edwin) Walsh and son, Robert (Erin) Lynch of Milton. Joseph was the father of the late Constance, Joseph, and James Lynch and Janice Mannion. He was the loving grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 4. He was the brother-in-law of Dorothy Lynch and father-in-law of Elizabeth O’Connor and John Mannion. Joseph was a graduate of Roslindale High School and Northeastern University where he excelled in sports and academics. He is a member of the Northeastern Hall of Fame. He played baseball in the Northern League where he was an All Star and MVP with the Bennington Vt. Club. He played professional baseball in the Boston Red Sox system, playing with the San Jose and Lynn Red Sox. He was a WWII Navy veteran. He had a long career as a C.P.A., retiring from Sacks & Lynch at 85. He was a member of Wollaston Golf Club and a former member of Marshfield Country Club. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2223 Dorchester Avenue, Dorchester Friday, December 9th at 10:00 AM. The burial will be private.
