Obituary for Joseph B. Cajuste
Joseph B. Cajuste died on January 31, 2022.
Joseph was born on June 17, 1939 to Hermance John Paul and Renau Cajuste in Cabaret, Haiti. Known by close friends and family as “Jo,” he was a loving and caring husband, and very dedicated to his family.
He loved to live, and he loved God. Jo enjoyed family gatherings and spending time with his children. He never ceased to make himself present for those who were far, and constantly wowed the world with his humility and unwavering kindness. His faith was unmeasured. He truly believed in every soul that he encountered, always compassionate and accepting of everyone. He was educated at Ferme Ecole de Cabaret. He later worked as a tailor, and eventually retired after working thirty-five years as a surgical tech and engineer at Beth Israel Hospital.
A man of God, Jo was a dedicated member of the Boston Missionary Baptist Church in Roxbury, MA. There, he served as one of the original founders and member of the choir, Chouer Dhommes. When he wasn’t singing, Jo enjoyed listening to gospel music and was an avid reader of the scriptures. Jo was our rock and our strength…our hearts are forever broken now that he’s gone. Joseph is survived by: His wife, Emma Cajuste; His children, Marvel, Marie, James, Edwin, Ricardo, Natsky, Cynthia, Alcer, Adriano and Eddy Jr.; His grandchildren, Jalen, Marvel Jr., Malcolm, Antoinette, Michael, Zena, Alynthia, Christopher, Adrian, Armany, Alexandar, Nathan, Emmanuel, Josiah, Marvin, Moriah, Mathias, Nariannah and Alejandro; His great-grandchildren, Cairo, Amavia, Saleya and Amaya; His siblings, Vilfrard and Madernie; and a number of nieces and nephews. Joseph is predeceased by: his parents, Clemence Jean Paul and Reneaud Cajuste, and his siblings, Joseph Meneus, Joseph Andre, Mercilia and Carmene.
Keeping him in prayers are the Families of Agosto, Boursiquot, Brutus, Cadet, Cajuste, Neree and Pierre-Charles, as well as his church family and friends. We recognize and offer our apologies to anyone not mentioned…but we certainly know how much Jo was loved. Thank You.
A message to Jo: The world has a great loss in your passing, Jo. We pray that we carry on your legacy of love, hope and Faith. We will always thank God for bringing you into our world because you sure made it brighter. You may be physically absent, but you are forever stamped in our hearts. We love and admire you. Your light may be out of this world, but continue to shine bright in your new world. Thank you for your teachings. May each tear that we shed today be a note of love rising to meet you.
