Obituary for Jonathan B. Davis

Jonathan B. Davis, age 48, of Marshfield, passed away, unexpectedly, Sunday, May 12, 2024 at South Shore Hospital in Weymouth.

Jonathan was born in Boston, raised and educated in Braintree. He was a graduate of Thayer Academy, Class of 1994, and earned his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Skidmore College in Saratoga, N.Y., Class of 1998. He lived in Marshfield for three years, previously in Scituate.

He was employed as a strategic account executive for Vercel in the Boston office for the past three years. Prior to that, Jonathan worked for Udacity in Boston.

As a young man, Jonathan was a talented athlete. At Thayer Academy, he was a three-sport athlete, as captain of the soccer team and as a varsity baseball and basketball player. At Skidmore College, he was a scouted relief pitcher and still holds the school record for most relief appearances. He maintained his love for all sports as an avid Boston sports fan.

Jonathan enjoyed gardening and working around his home. He liked golfing and recently, with former Skidmore ballplayers, joined a senior baseball league. He was well-known amongst his friends as being a “foodie,” sampling different foods and local restaurants.

He loved animals, especially his two rescue dogs, Gambi and Raven, and his late West Highland Terrier, Jasper.

Beloved son of Kathleen R. “Bobby Kay” (Smith) Davis of Weymouth and Harold R. Davis and his wife Alida of Douglas.

Devoted brother of Erica Davis of Weymouth.

Loving fiancé of Shauna Caisey of Marshfield.

Dear nephew of Sally and Stan Miller of Canton.

Jonathan is also survived by many cousins, friends, and their families.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in Saint Francis Xavier Church, 234 Pleasant Street, South Weymouth, on Monday, May 20, at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. JD and I started on the same day at Vercel and I give him tons credit for helping me find my way in a role that I didn't have very much experience with. He went beyond what was expected of him to make sure I was ok! So glad to have crossed paths with him, and sending my best to his family and loved ones
