John Richard Collins (Richard Daly) was born in Plymouth, Montserrat, on May 17, 1936, to Ada Farrell Collins and Edgar Daly. Growing up, John move from the North to the town where he lived with his Aunt Bell and worked in her store. He also drove a bus that took people from (Plymouth) town up North. In 1956 John Richard moved from Montserrat to England, where he met his wife, Joyce Collins. They had two children. He joined the British Army in 1958, where he was the only man of color in his squad. He also traveled a great deal. In April of 1976, he moved the family to America. Eventually, the marriage ended in divorce. Then John Richard married Vinette Dean-Collins. They moved from Boston to Georgia and Florida. In 2019, he moved back to Boston to be closer to his family and friends. John Richard loved to drive any vehicle. When he left the Army, he got a job with the British Transportation in London, driving doubledecker buses. Upon moving to Boston, he continued his career with the Boston Public Schools Bus Transportation Dept. for over 40 plus years. John Richard loved his family, All types of music, especially Irish and old-time reggae songs. He loved playing Dominos and watching wrestling. He never missed a broadcast event of his favorite sport. He enjoyed the company of his family and friends. John Richard passed away on October 30, 2022, at 86. He was predeceased by his sister, Josephine Allen; his first spouse, Joyce Collins; a second spouse, Vinette Dean-Collins; and his son, John Collins Jr. He leaves behind three daughters, Yvonne Duberry Hamlet, Angela Collins, Carole Collins; a son, Israel Douglas, and a niece, Carolie Ponteen. He leaves 15 grandchildren,20 great-grandchildren, and many family members. Gwen Richardson and other friends will miss him. Funeral Service Thursday, November 10, 2022, in the Greenwood United Methodist Church, 378 A Washington Street, Dorchester, at 11 o’clock. Visitation in the church 10-11 am. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery.
