Obituary for John “Johnny” Bernard Harvey

John “Johnny” Bernard Harvey of Quincy passed away surrounded by his family on Friday May 14, 2021, at the age of 76 after a brief illness.

Born on April 24, 1945 in Barnstable, England, he was the son of the late Bernard and Joan (Taylor) Harvey. He was also the Husband of the late Donna (Frary) Harvey whom he wed on September 7, 1974. Together they shared 26 wonderful years together. They enjoyed traveling, particularly to Canada and taking their nieces and nephews to special events. They also shared two Siamese cats who each lived to the age of 23.

Johnny served in the U.S. Army and Army National Guard doing Army Intelligence for 28 years. He loved his country and was proud of his service. He would often invite his family to military events over the years. After the military he worked for many years as a security guard.

He was an avid collector and enjoyed military memorabilia, westerns, books and had a love for trains. He also loved the city, visiting the swan boats and walking around Castle Island.

Johnny was the oldest of seven children, he leaves behind his brothers Bernard Harvey of Flat Rock, NC, Robert Harvey and his Wife Connie of Millis, David Harvey and his Wife Karen of Brockton and his Sister Bernadette Higgins and her Husband Jimmy of Wareham. He was also the sibling of the late Stephen Harvey and Claire Keller. In addition to his siblings Johnny had many nieces and nephews as well as great nieces and great nephews.

Johnny will be laid to rest with military honors next to his beloved Wife at Cavalry Cemetery in Waltham, MA in a private ceremony.
