Obituary for John H. Swain

John Swain of Roxbury, Massachusetts peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 30, 2024.

John Swain was born to John Anderson Swain and Ceree Hargrove on August 15, 1934, in Eatonton, Georgia, Putnam County. He was the eldest of four children. As a young child he attended the Butler Baker school in Eatonton.

John met and married his beloved wife, Sarah Fannie Wynn on April 24, 1953; to this union they were blessed with four children, Carol Covil, Delois Swain (deceased), John Swain Jr and Fabian Swain.

John was a member of the John G. Jones No.8 chapter Masonic located at the Carver Den, 82 Talbot Ave, Boston Ma from 1976 to present. He was an officer in every house of the chapter with his highest position being the 33rd.

John is survived by three of his children; Carol Covil (Husband – James Covil deceased), John Swain Jr, Fabian Swain and his wife Toni Swain and Delois Swain (deceased). Grandchildren; De’Tasha Swain, Shawn Swain, Glenwood Bly, Tamika Bly, Tayisha Bly, Tonia Bly, Nicky Swain, Martina Sadler, Curtis Swain and Breona Swain. Siblings; Easter Farley (deceased), Robert Swain (deceased) and Theodora Nixon of Dorchester, Ma. As well as many great grand children and great, great grandchildren.

John leaves distant relatives and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and other family and friends near and far to mourn his loss. His presence will be missed but the memories of him will be everlasting.

Visitation will be held at the Carver Den, 82 Talbot Avenue, DORCHESTER on Saturday, February 10th from 10-11AM. Masonic Service to begin at 11AM. Relatives and friends invited. Private Interment.
