Obituary for Joanna Lynn Bell
Joanna Lynn Bell departed this life Tuesday February 13th 2024 peacefully in her sleep.
Joanna was born to Theopolis Bell and Carolyn Bell on July 10, 1960 in Kokomo Indiana. She was the 1st grandchild of Mrs Lucille Bell. She moved to Boston Massachusetts at the tender age of 2 years old where she would live the rest of her life. She attended the Boston public school system from Elementary through Highschool where she graduated English High in 1979. After high school Joanna attended the ABCD multiservice center in Roxbury and received a certificate in computer programming. For a short time after she worked at Graybar associates where she did administrative work.
After graybar in 1991 Joanna begin her career at the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA). She worked for the MBTA for over 25 years until her retirement. Joanna loved to take care of people and after retirement she worked at a nursing home in Westwood where she sat with elderly patients and fed them. She also worked as a bus monitor where she met a little girl named Emma who she continued to care for after she left the job. Joanna was the 2nd born daughter of 5 children. She was the mother of 2 beautiful girls and the grandmother of 1 handsome grandson which she loved dearly. One of the happiest times of her life was when her grandson Khasye was born.
Joanna was a free spirit. She was a kind, generous and sweet, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. And she displayed these qualities to every person she met. She loved to BBQ, play spades, and be with family. If the music was playing she would be one of the 1st ones on the dance floor.
She was proceeded in death by her father Theopolis Bell, Her 2 sisters, Ava Bell of Boston Ma, and ½ sister Ethel May Tyler from Indiana, and 1 brother Kevin Bell from Boston Ma. She leaves to mourn her 2 daughters Lauren Yvonne Bell, and Joanna Larniece Bell both from Boston Ma. Her mother Carolyn Sue Turner of Boston Ma, Her grandson Khasye Aasim Perterson-EI from Boston Ma, 2 brothers Kim Duane Bell from Boston Ma and ½ brother Chris Bell from Kokomo Indiana, and 1 sister Carol Ann Bell from Boston Ma. As well as a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends.
Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS on Friday, March 1st from 10-11AM. Funeral Service at 11AM. Interment at Saint Michael Cemetery.
