Obituary for Joan (Lolos) Booras

Joan (Lolos) Booras, 88, of Squantum died peacefully November 10, 2022, at home. She was the beloved wife of the later Peter A. Booras, who died on August 3, 2020.

Born in Boston, MA on December 6, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Aphrodite (Chicos) Lolos. She received her education from the Boston Public Schools. Later in life, she earned her real estate license. Joan lived in Milton for twenty-five years and the last thirty-eight years in Marina Bay, Squantum. She was an active member of the Saint Catherine’s Greek Orthodox Church, singing in the choir with her late husband. Before retirement she was active in real estate in Milton and the South Shore. She and her husband owned the Century 21 Annex in Wollaston.

Joan was always happiest while in the company of her beloved husband of sixty-three years. She always had a smile and great conversation for anyone she met. She was a wonderful host and enjoyed entertaining her friends and family in her home. She was an avid bowler, tennis player, piano player and she loved cocker spaniels. For much of her life, she enjoyed her getaways to Bermuda, Barbados, and Cape Cod, where she loved indulging in the best restaurants and spending precious time with her husband. She was a big fan of fashion and home décor, always keeping the latest catalogs and magazines nearby. Above all, Joan was most proud of her family, and she will always be remembered as the most loving and supportive wife, devoted mother and aunt, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Joan is survived by her two sons, Christopher Booras of New Hampshire, and Peter Booras of Norfolk; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; sister Frances Bolos of Milton, MA; one nephew, Richard Lolos of Wrentham and one niece Suzanne Westhues of Milton, grandnieces and grandnephews and several cousins. Joan was predeceased by her brother Arthur Lolos.

A funeral service will be celebrated in Saint Catherine Greek Orthodox Church, 119 Common Street, Braintree Monday November 14 at 10:00 AM. Relatives and friends invited. A visiting hour will be held from 9-10 at the church. Interment Milton Cemetery.

I am a friend of both Joan and Peter from our time spent together in Puerto Rico. I just came upon this after thinking about her. We called each other here and there and I last spoke with Joan before Covid started. Joan and I both bought from the jewelry lady with the cart on the beach: we both wanted the same piece, but managed to compromise. Kind of fun. We (meaning me and my travel companions) loved both Joan and Peter and they made it really easy to do so. I miss them both (and had a sense that they were no longer of this world). They both seemed to know how to live life well. May both Joan and Peter enjoy where ever they are. With much love, Jeanne and friends

Dear Booras Family, My sympathy to all the members of you family on the death of Joan. She and Peter were faithful members of the Milton Town Club. We enjoyed many dinner meetings together. The Booras's were a class couple. Sincerely, James G Mullen Jr
