Obituary for Janice E. Costello

Janice E. Costello, 72, of Quincy passed away January 29, 2024 after an unexpected illness.

Jan was born February 4, 1951, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital of Medford. She attended high school at Marycliff Academy in Winchester Massachusetts. She went on to earn her associate degree in liberal arts at Westbrook Junior College in Portland, Maine.

Jan worked in the banking loan industry for most of her career followed by working at Quincy Memorials as a salesclerk where she had retired after 23 years.

Jan was a dedicated bowler for over 40 years at Olindys Lanes where she was a team member of the Ladybugs. She loved her Tuesday bingo nights and would never turn down an opportunity to spend a day at the casinos. While at home Jan tended to her vegetable gardens, flowers and loved feeding all the birds, bunnies or any other critter who would come up to her for a snack. Jan adored her four grandchildren and loved any chance she got to spend time with family.

Beloved wife of Frederick J Costello. Loving mother of Laurie Keenan and her husband Michael of Hanover. Grandmother of Derek, Tommy, Lexi, and Matthew. Janice is survived by her sisters Gertrude Keough and Dorothy MacDonald. Predeceased by her parents John and Maude (Harvey) DiCristoforo and her sister Barbara Kidd.

Janice was a delightful lively conversationalist with a sharp wit which we enjoyed as recently as our January 1 New Year's Eve party, but what remains constant about her is her adoration and love of her grandchildren, and she was the beloved keeper of their pets
