Callahan, James M. of Braintree, formerly of Milton and Portsmouth, NH passed away peacefully on January 16, 2023, after a long illness. Born and raised in Milton to the late Patrick and Winifred (McGrath) Callahan. James earned his bachelor’s degree in mathematics from Boston College and a master’s degree in computer science from Boston University. He was drafted into the military during the Vietnam war era and spent the majority of that time as a radio operator in Korea. He worked at Liberty Mutual Insurance Company for over 30 years, beginning as a computer operator, and eventually retiring from its Portsmouth, NH location as a Chief Technical Analyst. He loved technology and computers and enjoyed sharing that passion with his family and friends. Other passions included classical music, reading, and listening to podcasts. He spent years perfecting the recipe for his “Uncle Jimmy’s chocolate chip cookies”, a perpetual favorite for holiday gatherings. Beloved brother of Ann Bouzan of Milton, Edward Callahan (Marian) of Maryland, the late John Callahan (Janice deceased) and the late Frederick Callahan (Norma) of East Bridgewater. Further survived by many loving nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and treasured friends. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Agatha Church, 432 Adams Street, Milton, Monday January 23 at 10:30 AM. Family and friends invited.
