James “Jymi” Melvin Stokes was born on February 21, 1952 in Boston to the late Mary Stokes of Boston and Willie Jacobs of Mississippi. James departed this life on January 5, 2022.

Anyone who met Jymi grew to love him he was a “cool dude” as everyone who knew him would say. He was the life of the party and always kept a smile on his face. Jymi moved to Atlanta, GA in his early adult years and from there he moved to Tampa, Fl. He came back to Boston in 2014 where he grew bonds with some of his grandchildren.

He leaves behind his loving children: Lakisha, James, Anthony and Cynthia. His siblings: Maida, Rena and Cleveland. Grandchildren: Shaquell, Nytasia, Kemani, Abryonna, Kyomari, Serenitey, Sahrxavious, A’Zhone, Kyaria, Anthony Jr., Andrew, Arlianna, Kamary, Devandre, Samira and Ronald. Three great grandchildren and his goddaughter Aylicia. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and other family members to mourn his loss.

Visitation will be held on Saturday January 22nd at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS from 2-3PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 3PM.
