Obituary for James Little Richardson

James Little Richardson, known by many as Little, Little was born in Boston, MA on December 7, 1948 to the late James Sr. and Elizabeth Richardson.

He attended the Boston School system. He began his career as a truck driver working for Hertz Trucking. During the 1970’s he worked as a school bus driver. He was a founder of the Boston School Bus Drivers United Steelworkers Local 8751. He was a decades-long union leader fighting for the rights of his brothers and sisters, serving as Steward negotiating community of two teams. He was also a treasurer of the Boston School Union. He was much loved by his union family and known for his steadfast determination, his compassion, his unique sense of humor and his infectious smile. He lived the union motto of solidarity. Little’s past times were fishing and hanging out at Washington Park.

Little is survived by his wife Joan Richardson, (5) children; Kimberly Brown of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Burgos Richardson of Fall River, MA, James Richardson III, Lamont and Kareen Richardson, aal of Boston, MA; (15) grandchildren; (27) Great-great grandchildren; (2) Great-Great-Great Grandchildren; (2) Son-in-laws, Daniel Burgos Lopez of Fall River, MA and David Johnson of Atlanta, GA; Mother in law Margret Scott deceased; (14) Brothers and Sisters; Horace of Pawtucket, RI, Gwendolyn, Louis, Elizabeth, Charmaine, Authur, Tanya, and Charlotte of Boston, MA ; Sonya of South Carolina, Larry of Florida, Donna of North Carolina, Donnell of Worcester, MA; (2) siblings preceded in death Karen Roland and Renda Richardson; (3) Stepsisters; Mary Diggs of Santa Monica, CA, Annett Edwards of Boston, MA and Adele Angelo of Brockton, MA; (1) Goddaughter, Anais Edwards, his nickname for her was Bop-Bop; (3) generations of nieces and nephews, and abundance of good and loving friends such as his special friend Stevan Kirschbaum.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 12, 2022 at 10:00 AM at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, MA 02124. Viewing will be held at the funeral home from 9:00-10:00 AM on Saturday. Interment Oak Lawn Cemetery, Roslindale.
