Gloria Elaine Mottley, 85, of Dorchester, passed away February 24, 2023. She was born on January 19, 1938 in Eagle Hall, St. Michael, on the beautiful island of Barbados, to Beatrice Griffith and Lonney Mahoney. She attended Eagle Hall Primary School. Growing up in Barbados, Gloria was very outgoing, and she loved to dress well. She was extremely neat; in fact, “neatness” was her middle name. Gloria loved life. She lived a modest life and worked very hard to achieve her goals. Little things like going for a car ride, or shopping on Saturdays brought Gloria much happiness. Gloria was humerous, whitty and she loved a good laugh. Gloria leaves behind her beloved husband, Wilfred Mottley, who was her sole companion for 58 wonderful years. Gloria cherished her husband until her last beath… Preceding her death are her son, Desmond Griffith, her sister, Sylvia Griffith, and her brother Kenneth Griffith. Gloria will be greatly missed by her family: her close cousin, Evelyn Griffith, her nieces: Margaret Lorde, Sandra Forde, and maria Bentham, her nephew: Hubert Griffith, in addition to other family members too numerous to mention. Gloria also developed wonderful friendships throughout her lifetime. They include, Gloria, Chris, Roderick, June, Earla, Sommerset, and last, but not least, her goddaughter, Tayna Robinson. Every day Maria would call Gloria to reminisce. Those phone calls lifted her spirit every time. She will be deeply missed. May she forever rest in eternal peace. Beloved wife of Wilfred Mottley. Gloria was born in the parish of Saint Michael, Barbados. Funeral Services will be held at the Church of God of Prophecy, 179 Glenway Street, Dorchester Saturday, March 11, 2023, at 11:00 AM. Family and friends invited. A visitation will be held at the church prior to the service from 10-11 AM. Burial Oak Lawn Cemetery.
