Obituary for Georgia Mullins

Georgia Zervas Mullins passed away peacefully on December 10, 2024, surrounded by her children. Born on August 7, 1948, in Brooklyn, NY, Georgia was the middle child of three, born to the late Agnes and James Zervas.

Growing up in Brooklyn with Greek immigrant parents, Georgia was deeply involved in her community, spending much of her childhood at the Greek Orthodox Church. She cherished her close-knit circle of Greek friends and family, helping out in her father’s restaurant and expressing her creativity in her spare time. Her innate artistic talent and keen sense of style led her to attend the Fashion Institute of Technology in Manhattan, where she studied Fashion and Interior Design. Georgia excelled in her studies, earning multiple awards and securing prestigious internships with well-known fashion brands.

Although she later transitioned to a career on Wall Street in banking and eventually becoming a homemaker and stay at home mom, Georgia never lost her passion for design. In her later years, she returned to her creative roots and founded her own interior design business, Designs by Gia.

Georgia's greatest pride and joy, however, were her three children. She dedicated her life to providing them with a loving, nurturing, and secure home filled with laughter, happiness and her specialty, holidays done right. Becoming a Yiayia to her three grandchildren brought her immeasurable happiness, and she reveled in watching them grow. Georgia also found joy in creating art, hosting parties, curling up with a good book, playing LCR with friends, and cooking delicious meals for those she loved.

Of all the qualities that defined Georgia, her remarkable strength stands out most. A fighter until the very end, she battled serious illness since 1993 with unwavering determination. Her deep will to live β€” driven by her love for her children and grandchildren β€” was nothing short of inspiring.

Georgia is survived by her three adoring children: Danielle Licitra (and partner Tara Imondi), Bill Mullins (and wife Nicole Mullins), and Christina Skeldon (and husband Matt Skeldon). She also leaves behind her cherished grandchildren: Georgia (Gigi), Chase, and James. Her devoted brother, Chris Zervas, and his wife, Carol, along with their son, Matthew, also survive her. Georgia's memory will be lovingly honored by her family and friends, particularly her best friend, Joann Weinert and her adoring aid, Teresa Pontes, who provided her with steadfast support and joy at the end of her life.

The family extends heartfelt thanks to Dr. Kholdani and her dedicated team at Beth Israel Boston, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and the other healthcare professionals who gave them the gift of extra time with Georgia.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Georgia's honor to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, a resource that was especially meaningful to her as she battled Parkinson's disease.

A private wake for immediate family will be held. A celebration of life will follow in the New Year.
