Obituary for Eugene F. McAuliffe

Eugene F. McAuliffe of Milton and Scituate Massachusetts passed away peacefully July 6, 2021 at the age of 72.

Gene was the beloved son of the late Eugene F McAuliffe, MD and Elizabeth (Betty) Thompson McAuliffe of Milton. He was the brother of Carol M Madden and her husband, John of Lexington; Robert (Bob) McAuliffe of Hingham and his wife Mary Anne; Elizabeth (Betsy) Dobrowski and her husband, Richard of Plymouth and Richard McAuliffe and his wife Nancy of Hingham. He was predeceased by his younger brother William (Bill) McAuliffe, whose loss was particularly heartbreaking to Gene. He also leaves his sister in law, Bill’s widow, Laura McAuliffe of Cohasset. Gene was a loving and sentimental uncle to seven nephews and two nieces and several great nephews and nieces. He is survived by many other loving family members and friends.

A graduate of St Agatha School, St Sebastian High School and Boston College, class of ’71, Gene was later awarded his Juris Doctorate from Suffolk University. He has enjoyed a long and successful career in law in the Boston area. Gene served as an Assistant under District Attorney of Suffolk County Garrett Byrne. He later went into private practice. Personally, he will be fondly remembered for his quick wit, sense of humor and outgoing nature. Gene had a natural talent for fine art, and he produced some accomplished, colorful oil paintings. He loved his summers with his family in Scituate and nothing pleased him more than a lobster dinner shared with his family and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Saint Agatha Church, Adams Street at Brook Road, Saturday, July 10th at 10:30 AM. Family and friends respectfully invited. Visiting hours at Dolan Funeral Home, 460 Granite Avenue, EAST MILTON SQUARE, Friday from 4-6 PM. Interment Milton Cemetery.

If desired, in Gene’s memory donations may be made to The Home for Little Wanderers, 10 Guest Street, Boston, MA 02135.
