Obituary for Emmett A. Maguire

Emmett A. Maguire Sr. of Tampa FL, and Roslindale, died on February 24, 2022. Pre-deceased by his wife Dorothy Maguire, (Barry). Father to Kathryn M. Maguire & husband Richard Browne of Dedham, Patrick J. Maguire of West Roxbury, Karen A. McDonald & husband Richard of Quincy, Emmett A. Maguire Jr. of West Roxbury, Daniel J. Maguire & wife Phyllis of Quincy, Rene A. Bell & husband Steve of Quincy, and Maura E. Maguire of Arlington. Loving grandfather to seventeen (17) grandchildren and eleven (11) great- grandchildren. Uncle to numerous nieces and nephews. Pre-deceased by his sisters Mae O’Brien, Kathleen McCann and brother, Patrick Maguire. Brother to Rose Close of Canton, and Eileen Verderico of Roslindale.

Emmett served honorably in the 25th Infantry Division of the U. S. Army during WWII in Occupied Japan as Military Police. Emmett’s career was dedicated to the railroad where he started with the New York, New Haven and Hartford RR, and after many corporate changes retired from Amtrak Forty-seven (47) years. Emmett was an avid and passionate lover of golf for all his adult life and played all over the U.S. and Europe. As a lifetime member of the Wollaston Golf Club, Milton, MA., he enjoyed the friendships he developed over his many years as a member.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, March 3,2022 at 11:30AM in St. Bernadette Church, 1031 North Main Street, Randolph. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours on Thursday 9-11 AM in the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, Dorchester Lower Mills. Interment in Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
