Obituary for Debra Ann King

Debra Ann King, age 70, boarded the Heavenly Express Train on Wednesday, March 13, 2025 hastened by the affliction of cancer.

She grew up in Scituate’s village of Humarock which planted her life long passion for the protection of and love for nature, animals and environmental health. Native American culture mirrored her philosophy of cherishing and safeguarding natural resources. She found powerful links between tribal customs of Ireland and Native Americans in their deep respect for the earth and all creatures.

Post education from Scituate schools, Debra commenced working in the financial world which would bring her to a long career at State Street. Leaving the corporate atmosphere behind, she pursued a unique path as she found extreme pleasure in working privately as a companion and chef, she loved to cook, for a Milton resident and delighted in working for a wonderful Pastor and staff in a Milton church. Both jobs offered immense enjoyment. Years elapsed and she joined a fine family business where her proficient skills as company bookkeeper were employed. She last worked there on February 3, 2025, as her love for the owners and co-workers moved her to do her best as long as possible while fighting cancer.

A personality filled with fun plus a zealous zest for life was Debra’s daily course while always relishing times with family and friends. Her infinite love for the water, Humarock Beach, her home on the South River gave her extraordinary happiness.

Debra’s footprints are invisibly etched in the sands of innumerable Cape Cod Beaches. Watching Osprey take flight from their nests at West Dennis Beach brought her tremendous joy as did all animal life.

Now, Debra, we watch as you take flight. You always brought us joy. Until we meet again, we wish you Love and Godspeed.

May the road rise up to meet you…

Beloved daughter of the late Bernard and Dorothy (Baker) King. Devoted longtime friend of Mary Ellen C. Welch of Milton. Loving sister of Michael A. Words cannot begin to describe the heartache of your illness and loss. You were my Dad's little sister, my aunt, but our relationship was much deeper, more of a sister and best friend. Life will go on but never be the same without you in our lives. The memories of Humarock and beyond will be cherished. Your love for the beach rubbed off on all of us, such compassion and most of all, your humor. There were always plenty of laughs when you were around. Your positive attitude and outlook on life was something to admire, even when you were so sick with that dreaded disease. May you finally have peace and be whole again. Until we meet again dear Debra, we will always love and miss you. Donna Smith Morash
