David Errol Dookie of Dorchester passed on March 18, 2021.

David was born on January 23rd, 1936 in Ecclesville, Rio Claro Trinidad. He was the son of Matthew and Rebecca Dookie. He was preceded in death by his brother Daniel and his sisters, Doris and Irene. He leaves behind his sisters Venice, Merle, Marina and Lorna and his brothers, Joseph, Kelvin and Robert. He also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

His early years were spent in Ecclesville, helping his family with their farm and business. In the late 60’s , he migrated to Boston , Massachusetts to join his sister Venice. because he did not want his sister to be alone, away from home in another country. He worked at Diamond International in Hyde Park until it’s closing in the 1990’s. After that, he was a stay at home Uncle for his grand nieces and nephews.

Uncle David AKA “Silver Fox” was affectionately known by the entire community wherever he resided. When he was in Trinidad and traveling to the United States, the entire village showed up and lined the streets at the airport to bid him farewell and safe travels. This shows you the type of person he was. He was very generous and friendly. He was genuinely interested in people and was not prejudiced. When someone had a problem, he would assist in finding a solution. He was quite the socialite. He was well known in Boston as well. He was definitely fun loving, and it was a party every. single. night. There was always good food, drink and lots of conversations. There was always a gathering of people from different walks of life and different ages.

Lastly, there was something very important to him, his family. He demonstrated what it was to have love for family and the sacrifice it took to ensure that all members thrived. I would like the younger generation to know, just because you did not see him all the time and even though some of you were thousands of miles away, that you were loved and thought of. When you were born, he rejoiced. He celebrated your accomplishments with you and mourned the tragedies along with you. He was always eager to get news of his family from all around the world. He loved everyone.
