Obituary for Charles Kirnon

Charles Kirnon, affectionally known as Will or Charlie, was born on February 19, 1941 at St. John’s Montserrat, West Indies. He departed this life on January 5, 2022, many years after his beloved wife Elvira Kirnon was laid to rest in 1999. His parents Thomas and Alice Kirnon had six children. Charles was the second.

After receiving his formal education at St. John’s School, he migrated to England. Charlie gained employment at the City Factory in Swetes, England. He was the beverage manager at Ring and Brymer, a banqueting Conference Center in London, England. He provided beverage lists for special functions, filled the orders, and determined customer cost. After more than twenty-three years in the United Kingdom, he explored other possibilities for employment and eventually left England to take up residency in the U.S.A.

Upon his arrival in the U.S.A., he was hired at Sears, Roebuck & Company where he remained gainfully employed for three years. He was responsible for correctly loading and shipping merchandise to retail stores. Charlie trained as an Oil Burner Technician at Hubert Humphrey Occupational Resource Center in Roxbury, Massachusetts, and received his Mass State License from the Department of Safety. Roxbury Community College hired him as their Oil Burner Technician. He remained employed at Children’s Hospital in the Central Equipment Service Department until his retirement.

He took responsibility for raising for raising Duncan Malone after his mother Candice Malone returned to Montserrat and Charlie’s wife, Elvira, passed away. With the help of Gertrude Brewster monitoring his academic progress, they ensured that Duncan graduated from high school. Knowing the importance of a college education they gave him the support he needed to complete his bachelor’s degree.

Charlie will be sorely missed. He will be etched in the memory of his siblings Victor, James, and Mary Kirnon of England; Joseph of New York, and Elizabeth of Canada; his children Theresa and Joycelin Tuitt of England; stepchildren Joseph and Bazil Fenton as well as Michelle Annie Cassell; several grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and special friends Gertrude Brewster, George Simon and Lance Garrison.

May his body rest comfortably in the ground and his spirit return to God who gave it.

Visitation will be held at the Dolan Funeral Home, 1140 Washington Street, DORCHESTER LOWER MILLS, on Friday, January 14, 2021, 10:00-11:00 AM. A Funeral Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment Forest Hills Cemetery, Boston, MA.
