On Sunday July 24th, 2022, Carmel Dambreville affectionately known as “Mommy Cam “passed away, surrounded by her children, and loved ones.

Carmel Therese was born in Saint Marc on November 02,1924, to the late Leonie Durand a boarding house and restaurant owner, and Felix “felio” Cadet who headed the wharf. However, she was raised by her grandmother Marguerite Gideon, and her father Felio. She went to La Sagesse, shortly after graduation she met and married Emmanuel Dambreville on December 23, 1945. Of this union Carmel was blessed with 8 children, all of whom she raised to be strong, intelligent, independent, fierce, hilarious, well dressed, caring human beings who will strive to honor her memory by living their lives to the fullest. Carmel was a fantastic cook, a warm soul, a funny comedian, a stubborn woman, a great debater, resilient, she was a warm embrace, a holistic healer, a woman of God, a good listener, a caretaker, a teacher, she loved to dance and have a good time, and loved having her family and others around her.

Carmel was preceded in death by her second son Emmanuel “Manny/ Ti Mano” Dambreville Jr., as well as her third born Yves Dambreville .Carmel is survived by her sons Guy , Herve, and Serge Dambreville; her daughters Jeanne Desgranges, May, Carmelle ,and Jessie Dambreville; her Grandchildren Sandy, Mukiya, Chanel, Manny Emmanuel III, Khadijah, Heather, Martin, Nafeesah, Takreem, Aneesah, Jean-Marc, Sadyah, Derek, Tanisha- Samantha- Thara- Khail Alex; and many great grandchildren. Now that’s a legacy!

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Saint Gregory Church, 2215 Dorchester Avenue on Friday July 29th at 10AM. Interment at Forest Hills Cemetery. Zoom link below
