Obituary for Brian A. Gillis

We are sad to announce that Brian Allan Gillis, age 48, passed away suddenly on March 29, 2023. He was the beloved son of Allan F. Gillis and the late Barbara A. Gillis of Dorchester, MA.

He was loved and cherished by his fiancé, Janelle E. Yosca, her 3 children, their pup "Kimba" (Marlborough, MA), and the rest of the Yosca family.

He leaves behind 6 brothers and 1 sister. Allen J. Gillis and wife Helen Gillis of Malden, MA, James R. Gillis and husband Henri E. Martin III of Haverhill, MA, Arlene M. Goodson and (late) husband Joe Goodson of Junction City, Kansas, Robert F. Gillis of North Andover, MA, Leo W. Gillis and wife Gina M. Gillis of Dallas, TX, Scott M. Gillis and wife Kimberly Ann Gillis of Providence, RI, David H. Jenner and wife Joy Jenner of Coral Springs, FL, and many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, and cousins.

Brian was born and raised in Dorchester, MA and from a very young age was passionate about music. After graduating from high school, he decided to pursue his love of music and became one of the founding members of the boy band LFO (Lyte Funky Ones) in 1995, and later went on to pursue a career in law enforcement. His passion for music was recently renewed through an old friend who shared his love for the industry and had begun to invest his time in helping to promote local talent.

He was known for his "larger than life" heart and love of animals, and his absence will be felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him.

When I first heard of Brian's passing, I was shocked and quite stunned. A week later, I still can't believe he is gone. We worked together at Regis and Brian was the nicest, funniest, most down to earth co-worker I have ever worked with. He was a great dispatcher, colleague, but most importantly, a great friend. I will miss the funny times and sharing of stories with Brian. Rest in peace Brian, God bless you! To Brian's family, I am truly sorry for your loss and hope you all find peace and comfort during this difficult time. -Erin Morgan
