With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Benjamin Pope He peacefully departed this life on March 8th, 2024.
Leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of love., a beloved father, grandfather, brother, and friend. Benjamin entered this world on November 11, 1949, in Beaufort, South Carolina, born to Adlene and Benjamin Pope.
Benjamin's formative years were spent in Boston, Massachusetts, where he was nurtured and raised. He attended Dorchester High School, laying the foundation for a life marked by dedication and hard work. Following his education, Benjamin embarked on a career in construction, specializing in asbestos. His commitment to his craft and his work ethic earned him the respect of colleagues and peers alike.
However, Benjamin's true joy in life stemmed from his role as a grandfather. He found immense happiness in spending time with his grandson, whom he engaged in spirited conversations about their shared passion for the Patriots and Celtics. His love and devotion as a grandfather knew no bounds, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of his family.
A faithful member of New Hope Baptist Church, Benjamin found solace and strength in his faith. He exemplified the values of compassion, kindness, and generosity, touching the lives of all who knew him.
Benjamin leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever be treasured by those who were blessed to know him. He is survived by his daughter, Taliesha Williams, and son, Terrance Clark, along with his grandchildren, Troy McCall Jr, Terrance Clark Jr. and lyliyya Clark. His great-grandchildren, Terrance the third, Laila, and Xyla Clark, will carry forward his spirit of love and joy.
In addition to his immediate family, Benjamin is survived by his siblings: EvaMae Pope (deceased), Joseph Pope, Clydean Pope, Randy Pope, Rosemarie Taldon (deceased) Tom Taldon, Roberta Pritchard, Larraine Pope, Gary Pope, and Barbara Pope, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family members.
As we bid farewell to Benjamin, may we find comfort in the knowledge that he now rests in eternal peace, reunited with loved ones who have gone before him.
Viewing will be held at Twelfth Baptist Church, 160 Warren Street, Roxbury on Thursday, March 14th from 11am-12pm. Funeral Service at 12pm. Interment at Oak Lawn Cemetery.
