Obituary for Anne Joseph Izidore

On Thursday, September 16, 2021, Anne Joseph Izidore of Hyde Park, MA passed away at age 87 at Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital.

Anne was a devoted mother of Rachelle Jean Louis, her husband Raud and a doting grandmother to their children Reed and Raeanna; stepdaughter Sonia Izidore Saint Louis, her husband Maxant and their children Drickerson, Max-Son, and Nick. She also leaves behind her cherished sister Therese Merois; nephew Chikenson Poulard and his wife (Tania) and their children. She is predeceased in death by her brother David Poulard. Anne was also the loving wife to Indrique Izidore. She leaves behind extended family and friends who always rallied around her for support over the years.

Anne Joseph Izidore was born in Petit-Goave (Delatte), Haiti on August 30th, 1934 to Oramene Thomas and Philemon Joseph. In 1973, she immigrated to the United States and settled in Boston, MA. Upon arriving to live her new life in the United States, she started working various jobs to ensure that she could provide for herself and her new baby, Rachelle. One of her first jobs was in a chicken factory, she then went on to work in a curtain factory until they closed. Anne was a diligent and hard-worker often working two jobs to care for her daughter. In 1987 she went on to work at Beth Israel Hospital where she would work for years before retiring at the age of 70. Upon retiring in 2004, her first grandchild, Reed, was born and in true Anne form, she never hesitated to volunteer to babysit her grandson. She took this role on for the first 2.5 years of his life. During this time, she was restless on the weekends and went back to work at Beth Israel on a part time basis for another 10 years. During this time her 2nd grandchild, Raeanna, was born and there was no doubt that she would take on the role of caring for her granddaughter for the first few years of her life.

To know Anne is to love her. She is the most selfless person who always puts others first and cares for those around her. Often times, her smile was the first thing you saw when you walked into a room with her. She was also very passionate about her faith and was a member of St. Angela’s church now Our Lady of Mount Carmel. When she wasn’t filling her home with warmth, laughter and kindness, Anne could be found cooking various Haitian dishes, exploring the city on her own and helping others, especially her grandchildren and supporting family in Haiti. One of her most recent proud achievements was when she received an Amazon Fire tablet around the age of 80 and with the help of family, she learned to navigate the web and would quite often spend time watching movies, listening to prayers, and surfing the web all on her own. We will greatly miss her and her warm smile and gentleness.

Viewing will be held on Friday, September 24, 2021 at 9:00 am followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church (formerly St. Angela’s Church), 1540 Blue Hill Avenue, Boston, MA 02126. Burial to follow at St. Michael’s Cemetery 500 Canterbury St, Boston, MA 02131. Repass at VFW, 84 Eastern Avenue, Dedham, MA 02026.
